“Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau” (CVB)

As Senior Vice President and Director of Sports Development for Greater Fort Lauderdale, John Webb is responsible for leading the CVB sales efforts and recruiting and retaining sporting events that create economic impact and hotel room night activity for the Greater Fort Lauderdale area.

The Florida Sports Foundation awarded John Webb the 2000 Sports Leadership Award and the Governors office awarded Broward County the State of Florida Sports Commission of the Year in 2003.

John graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1979 and he earned a Masters Degree in Administration from the University of Mississippi in 1981.  

John was the former Track & Field Head Coach at the University of Florida from 1985 to1995, where he was named the NCAA=s National Coach of the Year in 1989 and a five- time Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year.   

Before joining the Sports Development movement in Broward County, John was employed by the Governor=s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
