An unusual cold spell has hit the United States the week before Christmas even as far as Tennessee. In the small unincorporated of Gladeville we are in the high 20's today - which is around 40 degrees cooler than Friday when it was 73 and I went running with just a light tee shirt. We had a delightful and unusual 2 inch snow last week which was a real treat as we rarely have great snow in Middle Tennessee. |

I have been living in the United States for over 20 years and for some bizaar reason in my 21st year of living the in the States (and living on Main Street) - I am really starting to follow the elections over here. Oh - not only the presidential elections - but I started just like the presidential candidates did - with the primaries - watching the process for both the Democratic and Republican parties with around 6 candidates in each primary. Why is it that I actually am drawn to these elections that somehow never interfered with my life before????? |

It seems like yesterday when I was talking with my friend Graeme Harris about Middle Tennessee State University. I was 17 and touring the United States with the Australian Secondary Schools Team. We had toured all over the USA with stops in Honalulu, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, New York, Boca Raton, San Francisco, (even Fresno, CA). Graeme and Coach Dick LaLance were talking by telephone about a tennis scholarship to Middle Tennessee. I only had one question... |
