MIAMI DADE COLLEGE CULTURA DEL LOBO SERIES TO FEATURE AUSTRALIA’S LEADING CONTEMPORARY DANCE COMPANY IN SCORE!

MIAMI, March 9, 2007 – The Cultura del Lobo Performance Series at Miami Dade College (MDC) will present two performances of Expressions Dance Company’s SCORE! on Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31 at 8:00 p.m. at The Colony Theater, 1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach.

Based on the television shows we love to hate: American Idol, The Price is Right, and Big Brother, SCORE! is Expressions’ take on a behind the scenes look at the world of reality TV. Choreographed by Maggi Sietsma, SCORE! takes its inspiration from Michel Fokine’s ballet Petrushka and today’s reality TV shows. The fairground puppeteer is transformed into a slick TV host with his dancing puppets now contestants in a glitzy reality TV competition. The ultimate prize is a partner for life, the ballerina! 

Innovation, originality and energy have been the trademark of Expressions Dance Company since its debut in 1985. The Australian-based ensemble is acclaimed for its high caliber and compelling brand of dance and theatre. They create work where text, dance and visual media combine and confront each other. Radical, yet accessible, Expressions pushes the boundaries of dance, creating meaningful, powerful imagery and movement.

Expressions Dance Company has achieved national and international recognition through its extensive touring program and has performed at festivals throughout the world. While in residence at Miami Dade College, the Company will give master classes and lecture demonstrations to MDC and NWSA dance students and professionals in the community on the Wolfson Campus.

The Cultura del Lobo Performance Series is an initiative of Miami Dade College, through the Cultural Affairs Department. Cultura del Lobo (Culture of the Wolf), originally conceived as a play on the name of Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus and the adventurous spirit of its programs, has a celebrated history of featuring international and culturally specific work, both traditional and contemporary, which would not otherwise be seen in this region.
